ADOPTION AGREEMENT

The following are obligations and terms agreed upon by both Miller’s Doghouse (Seller) and the customer (Buyer) for the sales transaction of a Miller’s Doghouse puppy. A copy of this agreement will be sent via text and email along with an invoice before the deposit is made.

  1. As payment for puppy, Buyer agrees to pay the Seller the agreed amount for rehoming of puppy. A non-refundable deposit of $250 is required upfront to reserve the puppy and final payment is due in full before buyer takes possession of said puppy. Deposits can be made via Zelle, Apple pay (with a 1.5% processing fee), or cash. If Buyer agrees to pick up the puppy within 24 hours then no deposit is required. The total price of the puppy will be paid in full at pick up. **For final payment on pick up day, we accept cash unless otherwise discussed.

* Buyer understands that all sales are final.*

 2. Deposits are applied to the final purchase price of your puppy. All deposits are non‐refundable, however the Buyer has the option to transfer their deposit to a different litter (limited to one transfer per deposit). Deposits are only refundable if something happens to the puppy while in the care of Miller’s Doghouse. The deposit will only reserve the puppy for 7 days unless arrangements were discussed prior. This will give enough time to arrange travels to Atlanta for pick up. If you are unable to pick up your puppy within the 7 day timeframe, your deposit will be removed from current puppy and transferred to a future litter of your choosing (limited to one transfer per deposit).

  • MILLER’S DOGHOUSE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO RETURN OR REFUSE A DEPOSIT FOR A PUPPY IF WE DEEM IT NECESSARY OR FEEL AS THOUGH IT IS NO LONGER A GOOD FIT.

3. Once puppies are ready to go home, Seller and Buyer will set up a time and date for pick-up. Due to Covid-19 and for the safety of everyone, we are no longer doing in-home visits. All puppy pick ups will take place at a mutual location in our area. Weekly photos and videos will be posted to our social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook).

  • Local pick up only. We do not ship puppies!

4. The buyer understands that we do not sell miniature dachshunds and seller does not guarantee size, personality, length, weight, coat, temperament, or reproductive ability of the puppy. We specialize in “Tweenies” which means that our puppies will be in-between the size of mini and a standard dachshund. Their adult weight will rang around 12-17 lbs unless otherwise specified by the seller. The Buyer understands that adult size of new puppy and other characteristics are estimates based on the puppy’s parents and Seller’s experience.

5. Buyer understands that Miller’s Doghouse works with a small network of breeders and not all puppies listed on our website are bred by Miller’s Doghouse.

6. All puppies purchased from Miller’s Doghouse come with a 2 year health guarantee. All puppies are guaranteed, to the best of our knowledge, to be healthy. The Buyer agrees to take puppy to a licensed veterinarian (of Buyer’s choosing) for a complete health check within 72 hours of receiving their new puppy to qualify for the health guarantee. The Seller is not responsible for any veterinarian bills incurred once the puppy leaves Miller’s Doghouse. If two, unassociated, vets (one being of Seller’s choosing) verifies that the puppy suffers from a life threatening congenital condition (during the first 2 years of life), the puppy can be returned to the Seller for a puppy of equal or lesser value. Seller does not cover minor flaws or any condition that can be corrected by a veterinarian.

7. If for any reason the Buyer can no longer care of their new puppy, they can be returned to Miller’s Doghouse, but no refund will be issued.

8. The Buyer understands that by agreeing to purchase said puppy from Miller’s Doghouse that they are agreeing to this adoption agreement in its entirety.

9. The Buyer understands that all sales are final and there are no refunds once the dog has been purchased.

Additional Information:

  • All puppies come with their FIRST round of shots and dewormed prior to going to their new home. Puppies are highly susceptible to many parasites and viruses included Parvo, Bordatella, and other diseases so please do not take your dog to outside until they are fully vaccinated and cleared by your vet to do so. This includes, but not limited to: recreational parks, dog parks, any public/private area that you are not familiar with.

    • Parvo, especially, is a highly contagious virus that can be spread through both direct contact with an infected dog or by indirect contact with a contaminated object. Your puppy is exposed to the parvovirus every time he sniffs, licks, or consumes infected feces. Indirect transmission occurs when a person who has recently been exposed to an infected dog touches your puppy, or when a puppy encounters a contaminated object, like a food or water bowl, collars and leashes, and the hands and clothing/shoes of people who handle infected dogs or been to high populated dog areas.

    • For addition information on Parvo and how to keep your new puppy safe please read this article provide by the AKC: PARVO AND PUPPIES

  • Worms in puppies are common. Your puppy has been treated for roundworms & hookworms, but don’t assume they are all gone. All puppies are dewormed 24-48 hours prior to going to their new home. Please note, your puppy’s stool may be soft for the first couple days after deworming, but will return to a solid stool once medicine is fully digested. Please see your vet for your puppy’s continued deworming/vaccination schedule.

  • Mom has been treated for fleas, but do not be alarmed if you see a couple fleas on your new puppy. Seeing that puppies are too young for flea treatments, all puppies will receive a thorough bath to remove any possible fleas on day of pick-up.

  • As puppies get older and more playful, they play very rough with their siblings. There may be a small bite or scratch on your puppy, but this will heal quickly once they are away from their litter mates.

  • Your new puppy may not eat or drink very much for the first 24-48 hours as they are adjusting to their new surroundings. This is normal, once they warm up their appetite will return.
